Gen Z, Tell Us About Your Political Views

Members of Generation Z...

Members of Generation Z — people born after 1996 — are about to play a major role in an American presidential election for the first time. But there has been little discussion of how their opinions, priorities and needs differ from those of older generations.

I’m a political reporter for The New York Times, and I’m working on a series of articles about Generation Z’s growing influence. In doing so, I am aware of a long, unfortunate political tradition: dismissing, caricaturing or condescending to young voters. As a millennial, I experienced this myself from older politicians and pundits. I think Generation Z deserves better.

So if you were born between Jan. 1, 1997, and Nov. 3, 2002 — meaning you’re part of Generation Z and you’ll be 18 or older on Election Day — I want to hear from you.
